Database Analyst / Developer gesucht.The database analyst will assume a key role in the tuning of an innovative system currently under active development, being responsible for the optimization of its data storage and access. The activities will include monitoring the system to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies either at the query or database level, and cooperation with the development and operational teams to create solutions to the problems found.
Required Skills:
- Expert in Database design, with at least 2 years experience in creating and managing schemas for complex business data.
- Expert in SQL with at least 4 years experience writing complex queries.
- Experience in Data Warehousing and ETL processing.
- Experience in isolating performance problems using either the Oracle management views or tools such as Spotlight or Statspack.
- Fluency in Java.
- Experience with Hibernate and with the optimization of a system using Hibernate.
- Ability to clearly communicate the bottlenecks identified and coordinate the efforts across both development and operational organizations to resolve the issues found.
- Knowledge of PL/SQL, and the Oracle Object extensions (SQL:1993), as well as the (SQL:2003) analytical/windowing functions.
- Extensive experience with Oracle 11g (OCP a plus)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Identification of problematic queries or database structures through monitoring of the productive system and the load test environment.
- Code reviews of inefficient accesses and active support of development team in improving code.
- Redesign of database structures where necessary, introduction of additional indexes, remodeling of data, transformation/migration of data.
- Coordination with test team to verify new designs, and to measure performance improvements.
- Provide expert knowledge of database and query design to development team, and review new designs from a database perspective.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Management Information Science.
Experience:
Six years work within a large development organization, preferably in a Java environment. At least two of those six years with a focus on database issues. DBA experience is a plus.
