Technical Manager Position/contract - English language speaking business working environment

Requirements for the position:

- Over 8 years experience working in a Software Engineering discipline.

- Excellent understanding of many Software Engineering methodology's (UML, Extreme/Agile Programming, BPM, BEPL, ITSM, ITIL, etc.)

- In-depth knowledge of one or more Operating Systems (Linux, HP-Unix, Windows, etc.)

- Must be experienced with C++ and/or Java/J2EE programming languages and IDE environments.

- Excellent understanding of many standard web and Application Server products, such as Apache, JBOSS, Glassfish, WebLogic.

- Excellent understanding of many standard markup languages and web service protocols, such as XML, XSL, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, JMS, MQSeries.

- Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle - requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and support.

- Ability to lead technical teams, excellent interpersonal skills, excellent presentation skills.

- Fluency in English essential, both written and spoken.

Major Responsibilities:

- Analyze and validate end user requirements, for the purpose of developing and/or customizing operational tools required to support Client application and system services.

- Provide technical leadership in the architecture, design and implementation of solutions.

- Ensure that any software that is implemented uses state-of-the-art methodology's and meets quality standards.

- Creation and tracking of project and/or product plans to ensure new releases are implemented on time.

- Perform the role of, or work with Project and Product Mangers to ensure major milestones are met and new releases are implemented in time.

- Ensure new solutions are accurately documented.

- When incidents or problems occur help the operational teams diagnosis and recover from the service disruptions.

Summary Overview of Responsibilities:

A Technical Manager (TM) is required to provide accurate expert advice on how the latest software development technologies can be used in the products supported by the Client Monitoring & Automation team.

Provide, implement and support innovative solutions for operational requirements. Its scope will encompass console management, technical service monitoring dynamics, troubleshooting suites, automatic recovery of infrastructure and applicative failure for the highly demanding Client operational business domain.

A TM may be required to perform Project and/or Product management roles for the more complex technical projects/products. A Technical Manager will be technically responsible for the leadership role he/she performs for one or more products owned by the Client Monitoring & Automation team. In addition a Technical Manager will also interface with departments throughout the Client organisation.
