- Ensure our linux platform fulfills our goals of availability, scalability and performance
- Proactive monitoring and tuning to prevent potential outages
- Analysation and troubleshooting of production incidents
- Ensure the security of our platform with well-designed security-concepts
- Research on new technologies to improve performance and availability of our mission critical infrastructure
- Deep understanding of web applications and internet technologies, eg. HTTP, TCP/IP
- Configuring and tuning of common applications like: Apache, Nginx, Memcached, MySQL, Tomcat, Solr
- Experience with virtualization technologies: Xen, VirtualBox, KVM
- Experience with configuration management software like: puppet, chef, saltstack
- Knowing vagrant is a plus
- 3+ years of experience in operating and troubleshooting an HA-Linux environment
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, also natural sciences possible
