Desktop Support - Service Desktop Support - Desktop Support Engineer - Industry: IT Managed Services - 3 months rolling contract - Location: Germany (Bavaria) - Fluent German and English

An experience Desktop Support is required by an IT Managed Services business for a project in Germany.

Scope of the job: provide ad-hoc on-site support to supplement Life Technologies support services and provide a flexible solution to enhance continuity for the IT department in Germany

Main duties/responsibilities:

1) Incident management within the area: Configuration and maintenance of hardware, software and telecommunications.

Maintenance of network systems (LAN components) and security concepts. Handling calls and servicing business users by eliminating IT issues. Call registration and monitoring via reporting tool. Analyze user requirements, evaluate options and recommend long-term solutions.

2) Accepting full ownership of incidents, from origin to final solution (attitude): delegating or escalating issue (including escalation to vendors). Pro-active communication of ticket status to user.

Reporting of progress and bottle-necks to Infrastructure Support Manager.

Assist colleagues (IT employees) in troubleshooting incidents and performing problem management, driven by mutual respect, integrity and trust.

3) Continuous improvement to high-level and consistent service to the local business in cooperation with the Infrastructure Support Manager. Proactively suggest improvements to achieve excellence in delivering business value. Continuously challenged to better understand the business.

4) Participate in European initiatives. Adhere to Global/European IT standards and pro-actively suggest improvements in working practices to the Infrastructure Support Manager.

5) Provide quality documentation of operational IT support. Register (purchased) equipment and software. Maintain local IT infrastructure specifications in accordance with European standards.

6) Work with regional vendors as required.

Requirements:

Degree in Computer science of related field or equivalent experience. Any Microsoft, ITIL or Cisco certification will be seen as a plus.

A minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
