Desktop Support Engineer - German, 1st/2nd Line, Desktop, Windows, MS, Virtualisation - Cologne
We are an international IT Outsourcing Services company, currently seeking a German-speaking and experienced 1st/2nd Line Desktop Support Engineer for a long-term contract in the Cologne region.
Role Summary:
- This is a client facing role working for a high profile customer providing a fully outsourced Managed Service. Based in Cologne travelling to Antwerp and Luxembourg as required.
- Delivering first class, best of breed 1st/2nd line support and contributing to 3rd line and project work as and when required.
- Reporting to the aligned Client Services Director (CSD) ensuring execution against all contractual commitments by providing an outstanding service.
- Ensuring delivery against any agreed SLA's - response, resolution and availability.
- Reporting and following agreed processes and procedures expected of a mature IT Managed Services provider is essential.

- VMware vSphere/vCenter 4.1 (ESX & ESXi)
- Windows Server R2 - Active Directory
- Exchange 2007
- Good storage fundamentals (Dell Equallogic)
- Good networking fundamentals - Cisco, Juniper, HP
- Blackberry Enterprise Server (5.0)
- Enterprise Vault (8.0)
- Server hardware - Dell
- Symantec Backup Exec 2010
- Citrix XenApp - Basic Administration
Candidate Profile:
The role will be awarded to the candidate who best demonstrates that he/she has the right balance of competencies to succeed in the role.
The ideal candidate:
- Fluent German-speaker
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English);
- Their core technical background and expertise across a range of server-based technologies, including the quality of their report writing and documentation;
- Their approach to fault diagnosis, problem solving, customer service and relationship management
- The personal attributes that they believe would make them successful in this role;
- A full driving licence
- Ideally has experience of working in an organisation with International Standards such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management); ISO 20,000 (IT Service Management); ISO 27,001 (Information Security Management), or 25,999 (Business Continuity).
- Creates professional documentation that can be used internally and with Clients. (Word, Excel, Pdf, Visio).
