Technical Analyst and Project lead (m/w)
Background:
Our client maintains a Website Content Filtering program to provide appropriate control over users’ Internet access from within the Bank’s infrastructure. Website Content Filtering safeguards the Bank’s computing environment from offensive content, addresses web sites for which access needs to be controlled to meet regulatory requirements, and protects against security risks such as data leakage to external parties, spyware, viruses and other malicious code that may enter the Bank’s network when users access the Internet.
Certain web sites may be blocked due to Security requirements, Human Resource requirements, and Compliance/ Audit requirements.
The Web Filtering team processes special Internet access requests to allow access to blocked web sites. This includes provisioning and revoking access, reviewing and recertifying user access, investigating and responding to user inquiries, and reporting. It also includes leading, participating, reporting, testing and supporting planned and ad-hoc projects.
Overview of role:
We require a technical analyst with strong networking and testing experience to undertake two key tasks.
Firstly, the individual will handle the day-to-day tasks of Web Filtering operations. This includes provisioning and revoking access, reviewing and recertifying user access, investigating and responding to user inquiries, and reporting.
The individual would need to have a strong understanding of Network concepts, specifically HTTP and HTTPS protocols, and web proxy servers or firewalls. Good investigative and analytical skills are a must.
The individual will interface directly with pretty much all business lines and all titles within the organization. Good communication skills are a must.
Some of the typical day-to-day tasks include:
• Process requests for special Internet access in a timely manner, including information gathering from users and entering tickets into our systems.
• Investigate complex cases where reasons for blocking of access are not apparent.
• Work with our external security vendor to reclassify web sites as appropriate.
• Work with Networks as appropriate to black list or white list certain web sites.
• Management of web filtering categories.
• Track special Internet access approvals and rejections; prepare reports for senior management.
• Work with stakeholders to process recertifications of all users twice yearly.
• Work with other organizational stakeholders on other information requests as needed.
The second main task is undertaking either planned or ad-hoc projects. This includes leading, participating, reporting, testing and supporting such projects. Good project leadership skills, attention to details, and testing skills are a must.
Skills and experience:
Technical:
- Windows, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, web proxy servers or firewalls required
- Understanding of HTML required
- Understanding of web technologies and Internet protocols required
- Testing experience required
- Strong Excel experience (pivot tables - a plus)
- Project lead skills desirable
- Project lifecycle experience desirable
Security:
- IT Security concepts
Analysis:
- Good investigative and analytical skills a must
Other:
- Strong communication skills
- Good written and spoken English
- Attention to details
