We are looking for a Data Migration Architect to work at our multinational client in Bonn/Germany.
Tasks:
- The Data Migration Consultant has to analyse the Excel-based application and Inventory software and recommend a solution to migrate data from both application to a format that is compatible with a web-based Inventory Software. The data migration analysis will include the following activities:
- Analyze all Excel worksheets and identify the common structure for automated data migration;
- Analyze all Excel worksheets and identify data for manual migration;
- Recommend a solution to merge automated data set with manually entered data set;
- Provide a break down of the tasks required to complete the mapping of all the old Excel worksheets to formats;
- Provide a break down of tasks required to complete the mapping of XML Excel-based application output to Inventory software XML format;
- Evaluate technologies, recommend technological approach to be utilized and define skill sets required for the automated data migration;
- Produce a data migration strategy document (Solution Architecture document);
- Develop a roadmap for implementing the automated data migration, to include timelines and costs;
- Develop a plan for training local resources and roll-out of the new solution, to include timelines and costs;
- Develop an application prototype with limited functionality for data migration automation based on the recommended solution architecture.
Mandatory required Experience/Knowledge
Academic Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent preferred.
Essential Requirements
- Recent experience in designing and implementing software applications for migration of data from MS Excel worksheets to a relational database management system (preferably) MS-SQL Server 2008.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience working in Information Technology.
- Practical experience developing Back End application with the following technologies is required: SQL Server 2008, XSD, XML/XSLT, SQL, .NET.
- Extensive experience with MS Excel Automation is required;
- Must have solid SQL skills and strong understanding of Object Relational Mapping tools;
- Must have firm grasp of Microsoft Office Automation Tools;
- Strong XML/XSLT experience using standard XML tools/libraries;
- Must be a team player, experienced in working with others to achieve an objective;
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English language;
- Must be project-oriented, customer-focused and responsive, with a professional attitude including good time management and strong organizational skills.
