Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,im Auftrag eines Kunden bin ich aktuell auf der Suche nach Unterstützungsleistung im Bereich MPLS Configuration & Optimization.
Pos. 1502 MPLS Configuration & Optimization
Project description:
- MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) Configuration & Optimization
- Due to various reasons multiple deviations from target design were found in the production mobile backhaul and aggregation network in the past
- Goal of the requested network optimization service is to verify network implementations against the target design and to improve the network quality
The network optimization services can be separated into the following sub tasks:
- Network Optimization Project Setup
- Ongoing Network Optimization
- Optimization Tool Development and Maintenance
- Project Management
The sub tasks are described in the following sections in more detail, but shall not be limited to those details.
1.1 NETWORK OPTIMIZATION SET-UP (TASK)
Requirements:
- Network optimization processes
- Development of processes to monitor and document network quality
- Specify, design and document a set of network quality KPIs for network optimization
- Specify, design and document a dashboard to monitor network quality KPIs.
- Specify, design, document and test tools for monitoring network quality
- Development of a process for implementing the identified network optimization tasks in the network
- Pilot deliverables in a well-defined part of the customers network.
- Compare KPIs before and after optimization
- Compile a list of lessons-learned from the optimization pilot
Skills:
- 3 years working experience in mobile access environment
- Very good analytical and organizational skills
- Good communication and interworking skills
- Project Management skills
- Capable of reading German and English documents and communicating with German and English speaking people
- Profound knowledge of the rollout processes in the access & aggregation network of Telefónica Germany.
- Personnel with work experience within the access & aggregation network rollout area of Telefónica Germany are preferred.
1.2 ONGOING NETWORK OPTIMIZATION (SUPPORT)
Requirements:
- For each NodeB or eNodeB the traffic path inside the access & aggregation network until reaching the MPLS backbone shall be analyzed against the design & planning guidelines.
- The above analysis shall include the network routing and the network topology...
- The above analysis shall further include the configuration parameters of the equipment (IP/MPLS & Transport CWDM) in the access & aggregation network
- This includes hardware configuration parameters as well as software configuration parameters
- For each mobile POC router it has to be verified that the backup path does not carry production traffic
- Interfaces negotiation status (FE/GE), interface errors and optical interface parameters have to be identified
- SW releases of the involved NEs have to be verified
- Verifying the implementation of CWDM Fiber Rings used for backhauling mobile POCs against design guidelines (optical parameters, sites per fiber ring, backhaul capacity per router, etc.).
- Obtained results shall be presented in a weekly report
- Status of verified/optimized NEs needs to be documented in planning tools.
- Tickets have to be created for identified design deviations.
Skills:
- 5 years working experience in engineering or operations of IP-based mobile access environment
- Good knowledge of LTE and UMTS transport network requirements
- Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in data and transport networks (IP, MPLS, L3 VPN, BGP, ISIS, RSTP, CWDM, SDH …)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco CLI (IOS) and Huawei OS (VRP)
- Hands-on experience with passive and active CWDM technology
- Capable of reading German and English documents and communicating with German and English speaking people
- Profound knowledge of the design of the access & aggregation of Telefónica Germany
- Personnel with work experience within the access & aggregation network area of Telefónica Germany are preferred
1.3 OPTIMIZATION TOOL DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE (TASK)
Requirements:
- Define & build interfaces between existing tools for network optimization and the FNET data base according to the results of the network optimization set-up project
- Develop a northbound interface for the WANDL “IP MPLS View” network simulation and planning tool and develop the data import from the WANDL northbound interface into FNET
- Develop a translation engine that matches findings from the WANDL tool with the information stored in FNET (e.g. translate eNodeB IP address into network element basekey) and embed the developed translation engine into the FNET environment
- Define requirements on reports from other tools (APT, x:akta, …) in order to feed the translation engine with the required information
- Develop COGNOS reports based on the topology information received from WANDL similar to the existing reports based on x:akta planning information
- Develop COGNOS reports that identify mismatches of topology information received from WANDL with planned data from x:akta and with design rules as well as planning guidelines
- Perform profound functionality tests and correct malfunctions for all develop software and reports
- Maintain Tools Infrastructure
- Provide WANDL Tool Support
Skills:
- Knowledge about Telefónica mobile backhaul and aggregation network
- High analytical and programming and scripting skills
- Quick comprehension of complex systems
- Capable of reading German and English documents and communicating with German and English speaking people
- Profound knowledge of the FNET data base, the COGNOS data ware housing tool, the WANDL “IP MPLS View” network simulation and planning tool, and the x:akta data base
- Personnel with work experience in the tool environment of the access & aggregation network area of Telefónica Germany are preferred
1.4 PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Requirements:
- Monitor and report progress of all activities
- Coordinate the contractor’s resources
- Responsible for reaching the goals and fulfilling the purposes of the service
- First interface in the contractor’s organization in case of problems and escalations
- Member of the steering board to be set-up jointly between the Contractor’s organization and Telefónica Germany
Skills:
- Very good organizational skills

- Language skill: German, English (both fluent)
