Configuration Management Controller
This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, calls for at least 5 years experience of managing the configuration of complex systems, ideally those applying to satellite operations.
Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding Real Time environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures.
The main working language is English.
The role is associated with a new satellite programme and will embrace:-
- Managing documentation under configuration control and the issue of relevant configuration reports
- Acting as the secretary of Configuration Control Board meetings
- Create/modify/delete and track versions of hardware and software items and documentation
- Determining the hardware and software configuration by performing configuration audits and operating installed configuration audit functions
- Maintaining the configuration management database
- Supporting reviews and updates of system and ground segment configuration management plans
- Definition and maintenance of configuration management procedures
- Establishing and maintaining a configuration database implementing configuration status accounting
- Maintenance of the Documentation Management Plan and related procedures, with particular emphasis on the interaction between DM and CM
- Definition of configuration management requirements
The key experience and attributes sought are :-
- Proven knowledge of configuration management procedures
- Significant experience in software configuration management
- Extensive knowledge of configuration management standards, eg ECSS-M-ST-40C, ISO 10007, EIA-649 and GEIA-HB-649
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous:-
- Hands on knowledge of Serena Dimensions
- Experience of European space projects
- Working knowledge of ECSS engineering and management standards and ISO 9000 series
Candidates should ideally possess a University degree or equivalent. Fluency in English is essential. This is a freelance contract assignment with an initial period of 2 years starting in August 2013 with two options to extend for further periods of one year each.
