For our customer, an inter-governmental organization located in Darmstadt/Germany we are looking for a Network Engineer.
TASKS
- Requirements engineering (analysis, validation, allocation and maintenance);
- Assistance to the definition of interfaces;
- Definition of Network requirements;
- Design architecture definition, including analyses, trade-offs and compilation of technical budgets;
- Establishing the overall Network Design;
- Identification of areas of risk and contributing to any related trade off studies or prototyping activities;
- Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review;
- Participation in reviews and meetings at system and facility level.
PROFILE
Knowledge and experience with the following is considered mandatory:
- A university degree in engineering with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision.
- Experience in a similar function for at least three years working with high availability systems.
- Experience in preparation of system requirements and design documentation;
- Knowledge of Cisco network and security equipment and architectures;
- Knowledge of high availability network architectures and protocols (eg HSRP,
- VSS);
- Familiarity with network management, QoS and traffic shaping principles;
- Familiarity with satellite communications: DVB, VSAT, Point to Point links.
- Fluent in English, French knowledge would be an advantage.
Knowledge and experience with the following is considered an advantage:
- Experience in the definition of space related ground segments;
- Experience in the integration and verification of such systems;
- Experience in system-level analyses from an end-to-end perspective;
- Knowledge of ECSS standards.
Knowledge and experience with the following is considered beneficial:
- Experience in use of requirements management and traceability tools (eg DOORS);
- Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities (eg CORE);
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including MS-Visio.
The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The consultant shall be in possession of sound management and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and with a minimum level of supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation.
