For one of our clients in the banking sector we are looking for an BI Datawarehouse Expert (m/f) (AÜG = Arbeitnehmerüberlassung = German Law on Labour Lending).Role:
Business Intelligence / data warehouse expert (Senior) – to perform BusinessObjects universe development, report development expert, server administrator.
Some Oracle Datawarehousing and ETL knowledge would be an asset.
The Consultant should be able to execute the following tasks:
- Drafting user requirements documents based on end-user input;
- Drafting technical specifications documents for BusinessObjects universes and reports based on user requirements;
- Designing BusinessObjects universes (BO version XI 3);
- Creating BusinessObjects reports (BO version XI 3);
- Installation and configuration of BusinessObjects in clusters / shared environments –on Windows systems;
- Coordinating and executing an upgrade of BusinessObjects;
- Providing third line support for existing BusinessObjects installations;
- Producing hand-over documentation according to the client's standards such as technical documentation on delivered solutions, operational documentation and end-user manuals; and
- Ensuring knowledge transfer to the client including the provision of mentoring and advice to end-users and IT staff regards to BusinessObjects.
It would be an asset if the Candidate would be also able to:
- Knowledge of Database design, Oracle warehousing and have knowledge of ETL loading in BusinessObjects Data Services;
The Candidate shall provide technical expertise as regards to BI and Data Warehousing. Currently there is one system in DG-IS/EDA foreseen to be in need of this expertise:
1) the Counterfeit Monetary System – which is undergoing an upgrade to support new series of Banknotes
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Participate in IT project throughout the complete lifecycle for the development of IT application services from design to rollout of reports and universes.
• Drafts technical specifications in line with the architectural design
• Develops solutions in line with the technical specifications, integrates systems and interfaces,
• Performs technical testing and prepares the relevant technical documentation.
• Supports end- users during acceptance tests and operational teams during migration to the production environment.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve bugs and incidents in the post go-live support of operations.
• Develop appropriate scripts and procedures for the databases and universes.
• Review and implement security policies to the databases, ensuring data consistency and integrity
• Develop a working knowledge of business processes implemented in the data warehouse
• Provide training to 1st and 2nd level support staff with new procedures and techniques
Knowledge and skills:
• Knowledge of Data warehouse/OLAP concepts and of Dimensional Modelling, as well as of the use of Oracle RDBMS at the database design and development level. Exposure to high data volume environment (TB)
• Experience in reporting using Business Objects and/or Crystal Reports, and data model analysis
• Knowledge of ETL tools such as Business Objects Data Integrator or Informatica Powercenter.
• Proven ability in the logical and physical design of relational databases.
• Proven experience in the specification of performance tuning, administration and security requirements.
• Good knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Stored procedure programming and shell scripting.
• Good knowledge Web Logic and/or Tomcat would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of MS SQL Server would be an advantage
• Knowledge of Sun Solaris, Linux, current PC technology and client/server architecture would be an advantage
• Good analytical skills and a problem-solving orientation
• Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and the ability to work in a team are very important.
• Very good command of English with proven drafting ability
Education and qualifications:
• University or college degree in computer engineering, computer science, physics or mathematics or a related discipline.
