This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, calls for experience in using Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 10 and 11 to package and distribute office applications.
Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding Real Time environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures.
The main working language is English.
The role will embrace:-
- Distribution of software applications, upgrades and patches using the ZENworks Configuration Management 11ZCM software distribution/patch management systems
- Maintaining hardware and software asset information via the ZCM Asset Management System, reporting on software license usage and maintaining the software license inventory
- Maintaining the antivirus management infrastructure based on Symantec Endpoint Protection
- Analysing user needs and advising on the procurement of software applications
- Provision of second and third level user and technical support
- Contributing to the procurement of licenses by providing specifications and performing price inquiries, as well as acting as an interface to software suppliers
- Maintaining a verification and validation environment embracing software updates and roll-outs
- Reporting on performance indicators for services and systems and performing health checks on the IT infrastructure
The key experience and attributes sought are:-
- Extensive experience in using Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 10 and 11 to package and distribute office applications
- Extensive knowledge of administering and deploying office packages (eg MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project, financial and technical applications)
- Demonstrated experience in installing and administering Windows 7 desktops
- Experience in operating a managed antivirus system like Symantec Endpoint Protection.
Some of the following experience would be advantageous:-
- Use of ENGL
- Administering MS Active Directory
- Specification, design and implementation of MS based systems and services
- Work in a structured, ISO 9000 certified project and service environment
- Change and configuration management
- Knowledge of ITIL
Candidates should preferably possess a University degree or equivalent. Fluency in English is essential. This is a freelance contract assignment with an initial period of a year starting in March with options to extend for a further three years.
