Systems Engineer(s) - Unix/Linux, English speaking business environment, contract, Munich based, details as below.
Required skills:
- Solid UNIX/Linux systems skills (in particular Linux Red Hat).
- Experience with clustered HA configurations
- Experience with Oracle GRID infrastructure
- Experience with Symantec/Veritas clusterware and volume manager
- Experience with RDMS and in particular Oracle RAC
- Experience in automating/Scripting activities, Perl, Python, Shell or similar
Summary overview of responsibilities:
Overall administration and systems programming support for the UNIX and Linux platforms (Production and Test configurations) in the DB Tier platforms. Problem determination and troubleshooting. Scripting and automation of some functions.
Additional information:
The Client Database Tier currently supports HPUX and Red Hat as Operating Systems. These platforms are respectively running on Hewlett-Packard SuperDome and x86 hardware.
The Client is engaging in an internal project to re-engineer their test system database platforms to involve in some cases a migration from HPUX to Linux, and also an Oracle upgrade. This is a critical project which will need to be carefully managed.
As well as the platform re-engineering, they will be automating many of the migration steps so that these can be easily and consistently repeated, for use in other similar projects that they have planned.
