We are looking for a UI Designer to work at our multinational client in Munich/Germany.

Responsibilities:

  • In-depth analysis of the information needs for examiners while searching for prior art.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the process of searching for technical information.
  • Develop a strategy and decision points of how to integrate the UI.
  • Gather the user requirements and identify usage patterns of these particular user interactions.
  • Create a design proposal to support various information needs.
  • Conduct user evaluations of the final UI concept to cover the main personas and technical areas.

Deliverables:

  • Prioritisation of non-functional UI requirements.
  • A collection of functional requirements derived from user observations.
  • Development of an user interaction model.
  • Detailed description of UI concept and design solution.

Profile

The UI Designer shall have a comprehensive knowledge of user interface design and usability/ergonomics issues. This should be justified by several years of training and proven experience in UI design and/or ergonomics. We need the services of UI Designer with excellent user-centred UI design skills and with a good understanding of the patent processes and of the tools and methods. With regard to search user experience, search tools currently used provide a far from efficient UI. Accordingly, any experience in scientific search related business areas is highly appreciated. A candidate should have excellent analytical skills and should be able to come to a fast understanding of the user requirements and the objectives of the project. Our current wireframes have been produced with Microsoft Visio. The UI Designer should also have a good knowledge of ISO norms and other international standards and their implications for setting up and scoping projects. Additionally, we expect the UI Designer to conduct user observations in order to understand the objectives of this project and to document the observed and analysed requirements.

Knowledge/Skills

  • The UI Designer shall display excellent English writing skills, a good ability to speak the language, and ideally the ability to understand German or French.
  • The UI designer should display strong communication skills and be a team player.
  • He/She should be able to integrate into an existing team and to document and transfer his/her knowledge to a growing project team efficiently.
