Our client a leading EU organisation are currently seeking 4 Data Centre Operators on contract basis. This is a contract role based in Darmstadt, Germany initially for 12 months but it may extend up to 4 years.
The Data Centre is the company's multi-mission Archive holding all of the past, current and future data. The Data Centre is the repository - going back 30 years in the case of Meteosat - of satellite data encompassing the calibrated radiances of Meteosat, Metop, Jason-2 and NOAA satellites as well as many collections of geophysical data products.
In total, over 150 product collections are currently accessible for user ordering. Via a central product catalogue the Product Navigator which also encompasses the product collections of the SAF's, users can centrally access and order the historic data free of charge. User ordering is online, and the ordering process is largely automated.
The successful candidate will have the flowing duties:
* Monitoring and controlling all operational processes ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures;
* Monitoring the availability and quality of ingested products;
* Mounting and dismounting of storage media;
* Managing Tape backup activities;
* Maintaining the physical archive;
* Supporting the maintenance of the Technical and User documents;
* Processing of orders for customers;
* Authorising and managing orders received via the online ordering system, thus keeping archive and retrieval operations running efficiently
* Fulfilling/recording customer interactions including:
* Conducting all communication with customers via the User Helpdesk;
* Assigning new users to predefined user groups;
* Keeping track of customer enquiries/orders;
