A Technical Author is needed  for an UNO agency client located in Bonn/Germany from DEC2012 for at least 6 months.

You need to have excellent communication and research skills, 1st task will be to gather input about programmes and projects and to produce parts of the "Annual Report" of this famous Organisation. More details can be found below.

Tasks:

In close collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Report, relevant headquarters colleagues and portfolio managers:
  • Research UN projects and activities for coverage in the Annual Report 2012, using projects documents, mid-term and mission reports,  
  • Analyse preliminary and identified documentation - along with collecting additional needed information and then produce a complete inventory with detailed documentation references and contacts in an Excel sheet with attached Word documents,
  • Research external documentation and value-addings,
  • Pre-draft text for the Annual Report, using a template that covers primarily the development context, key objectives of the engagement, activities, results, also indicating the magnitude of the UN activity,
  • Liaise with relevant colleagues at headquarters and field levels to verify information, fact-check stories and data and obtain clearances for their respective project descriptions in the Annual Report 2012,
  • Interview field staff and transcribe all interviews and download the Word documents onto the portal,
  • Research collect additional missing information on the 30 potential stories and articles for the Annual Report which will be added to the information on each story into the Excel sheet with supplementary Word documents onto the portal.

Profile:

  • University degree in communications, development, international relations or other relevant discipline.

Experience:

  • Experience and background in communications, specifically in writing and editing,
  • Proven track record in research/editing similar publications in English,
  • Significant experience in researching and editing documents,
  • Good analytical, communication and consolidation skills.

Language Requirements:  

  • Excellent research and writing/editing skills in English,
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish an asset.
