For our customer, an inter-governmental organization located in Darmstadt/Germany we are looking Network and security engineer.

Candidates must have a passport of an EU member state or a valid work permit for Germany

TASKS

  • Provide security consultation to new programs.
  • Review changes to existing systems for adherence to the security policy;
  • Organize, support and evaluate periodic external security audits;
  • Analysis, specification, planning and implementation of network upgrades and evolutions;
  • Specification, implementation and support of quality and performance enhancing;
  • Support of multiple data flows across LAN and WAN links;
  • Installation and configuration of Routers, Switches, Firewalls and multiplexers;
  • Monitoring and supervision of the network and comms link status and performance;
  • Detecting and investigating network anomalies;
  • Liaising with the system administrators of Servers;
  • Implementation of corrective measures, including testing and validation;

PROFILE

In addition to having a university degree, the consultant shall have at least 5 years experience of assessing and implementing network security and be experienced in the evolutionary upgrade engineering of networks throughout their life cycle, and their administration and troubleshooting.

Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with the following is mandatory:

  • ISO/IEC 27002:2005 Information technology - Security techniques;
  • Network security solutions - Cisco ASA, FWSM, IPSEC VPN, TACACS+, Nessus;
  • High availability network techniques and protocols, (HSRP, VSS, OSPF, BGP, RIP);

In addition, knowledge/experience with the following is considered very desirable:

  • Network management and monitoring tools: JFF, Nagios, Cisco Works, RMON, SNMP;
  • Knowledge/experience in WLAN architecture, encryption algorithms, authentication options
  • IP multicast and multicast related protocols and standards (eg PGM);
  • Network time systems: GPS receivers, NTP Servers;
  • Tools: Snort, wireshark, tcpdump, iptables, cricket, iperf;
  • Knowledge of service management and SLAs.

The consultant shall be familiar with the following HW/SW systems, particularly in the areas of network interface configuration, TCP stack configuration and high availability interface configuration: Solaris, Linux, AIX, Microsoft Windows operating systems;
