Task:=> The Chief Designer / Development Lead (m/f) will have overall responsibility to ensure the appropriateness of the technical design and implementation of the application customisations, extensions and integrations, as measured against our client?s business requirements. This includes the following responsibilities:
=> Ensure that the functional and non-functional requirements are suitable (i. e. clearly documented, sufficiently detailed, and consistent) as a basis for technical design and implementation. Review requirements provided by the client, discuss with client to remove any gaps or inconsistencies, and ensure outcomes are documented. Advise client and third parties on recommended functional and technical approach. It may also be necessary for the Chief Designer (m/f) to gather and document requirements him/herself.
=> Take overall ownership for the technical design of the application customisations, extensions and integrations. Create technical designs and quality-assure technical designs created by other members of the development team. Ensure the design makes good use of the standard product and complies with design standards, guidelines and best practices for Mobiliser. Ensure technical designs are well documented.
=> Take overall ownership for the correct implementation of the customisations, extensions and integrations. Perform and/or organise quality assurance of technical deliverables, notably through code reviews.
=> Lead troubleshooting efforts during the system, integration and end-to-end test phases as well as during the initial post-go-live phase.
=> Direct, coach and guide offshore implementation team throughout the project life-cycle. Depending on circumstances it may also be possible/necessary for the Chief Designer / Development Lead (m/f) to take on team management responsibility for the development team.
=> Provide technical subject-matter expertise to other project stakeholders, e. g. PM, QA, infrastructure team and client.
=> Ensure the creation/update of comprehensive steady-state application-level system documentation and a quality knowledge transfer to the sustenance team for each release.
=> Actively participate in the professional services unit?s continuous improvement programme to further improve quality and productivity.
Requirements (Must have):
- Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
- Highly precise verbal communication (written and spoken)
- Active communicator, extrovert personality
- Pronounced ability to quickly and independently gather the information necessary for one?s own work (and one?s own initial ramp-up) from various disparate sources
- Pronounced desire and ability to resolve issue quickly and independently
- Highly pragmatic approach, willingness and ability to improvise
Requirements - essential
- Proven track record with technical delivery responsibility on application customisation and integration projects
- Many years of practical experience in developing three-tier web applications with a Java MVC framework, with a focus on backend integration through web services and other protocols/formats
- Good working knowledge of the majority of the following products and technologies: Tomcat, OSGi, Oracle database, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Wicket, Hibernate, JAX-WS (web services), JAXB (XML marshalling), JSON, Eclipse, Subversion, Maven , DbMaintain
- Strong conceptual and technical design skills, architectural thinking
- Very good knowledge of software development best practices
- Experience in directing and coaching development teams
- Confident interaction with clients
- Ability and willingness to work in a project context and under pressure
- Availability for occasional international travel
