This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a Consultant with at least 5 years experience of assessing and implementing network security and be experienced in the evolutionary upgrade engineering of networks throughout their life cycle, and their administration and troubleshooting. The experience shall have been gained in an operational or production environment, driven by high availability requirements..
Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets.
The Consultant will work in the client's Operations Department in the Comms team which is responsible for communications and network systems.
The key experience and attributes sought are:
ISO/IEC 27002:2005 Information technology - Security techniques - Code of practice for information security management
Network security solutions and architectures - Cisco ASA, FWSM, IPSEC VPN, TACACS+, Nessus;
Experience of specifying, planning and preparing network engineering activities, as well as their coordination and technical guidance with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customers/users and other stakeholders;
Ability to analyse complex systems and to present them in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to understand relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects;
Demonstrated capability to prepare documentation;
Cisco network technology, architectures and equipment, Cisco operating systems;
High availability network techniques and protocols, routing protocols eg HSRP, VSS, OSPF, BGP, RIP;
Experience of working and performing the tasks listed above in 24/7 high-availability operations environments;
Interaction with product and service suppliers in support of procurement activities.
Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent. Fluency in English is essential. This is a freelance contract assignment with an initial period of 3 years starting in January 2013 with two options to extend the activity for 1 year each.
