Services required:
Role: MS Windows Engineer
Description: Our client is currently engaged in a project to upgrade its desktop computing environment to Windows 7 (from XP) and requires support in building the new system.
The MS Windows Engineer will be expected to assist with the design, implementation, maintenance, and support and to document both operational and development Workstation environments running Microsoft Windows 7 in a 2008R2 environment, supporting a operational environment of ca. 8000 desktop and 1100 laptops running both commercial and custom applications.
The Windows Engineer will assist with the design and implementation of an image and the deployment thereof including associated GPOs, startup scripts etc. There will be a strong emphasis on process definition and documentation.
The successful candidate will cooperate with the project team within the IT department and will be expected to work with multiple cross-functional teams. They must have strong analytical skills and be accustomed to working under pressure and to strict deadlines while working on multiple issues simultaneously.
Main Deliverables:
A desktop computer provisioning system
A standard Windows 7 desktop image with variants
Complete documentation for the above
A report recommending the best way for our client to implement virtual desktop technology
Technical Skills:
At least 2-3 years experience of designing, implementing, administering and supporting workstations in a corporate environment using Windows Vista/7
Experience of building and deploying desktop images using SCCM
Accustomed to Real Time analysis, monitoring and problem resolution in a large scale environment
Ability to document existing or newly defined standards and procedures (in English)
Awareness of ITIL based processes especially in an ITIL based Configuration Change and Problem Management framework.
Awareness of best practice based security models.
Knowledge and experience of VDI
Professional Skills:
The successful candidate will be able and willing to quickly learn the operational processes and procedures currently in place to support a mission critical production environment.
The ability to organise and structure their daily work independently while working alongside the Windows Workstation Team and providing regular reports to line management.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, some ability in German would be beneficial.
Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and team working skills and the ability to interact with multiple levels of personnel both within the organization and externally.
Collaborate with other team members and with external groups
Must pay strong attention to detail and quality.
Additional Job Requirements:
This position is a daytime position but will require flexibility to perform system maintenance during evenings and weekends plus ad hoc on call arrangements.
