Requirement:
The client wants to develop a global backup strategy that sets out the gross structure (which technologies are used, what components should be secured with which backup process) of a backup/restore of different ICT components and includes a step approach to implement the strategy. The client is seeking a consultant to the back, overlooking the market, has implemented similar requirements in similar businesses already. The consultant should develop based on his experience/knowledge of the strategy.
Objective:
Develop a backup strategy that includes all ICT components. Statement of whether a common backup strategy for all components and feasible and why should occur for components/component groups dedicated to the use Backup-/Restore
This strategy should include:
Components to be secured:
Hardware: physical Servers, virtual Servers, storage, vsnaps, desktop, laptop, PBX, network components, PDA.. (Server-based desktops virtulized are not in use)Applications: Databases, Exchange, Domain Controller sharepoint, NAS, Windows filesystems, Linux filesystems, SAP, SCCM..
Locations: worldwide distributed sites of different sizes: Largest Site 500 server 6000 user 150TB of storage to small sites with few users (local and mobile users) no server or 1-2.The site is connected via MPLS or IVPN connections of different bandwidth and latency.

Backup SW: HP Data Protector, Legato networker in a dedicated area Backup hardware: (.Different generations LTOx development, tw DLT) Physical cassettes in 2 great locations and virtual tapes. Some of the cassettes are outsourced to third party sites Backup for client (desktop, laptop): no centrally organized backup, backup tool is installed, use the user's responsibility
In the strategy with which backup components and technologies include today usefully wherein application are used.
Backup Policies:
Statement which backup policies (backup cycles, retention time) in which the application is appropriate or required (legal claims)
Disaster recovery:
Use the backup in case a disaster and the resulting demands on the backup migration method.
