The Centre of Excellence for User eXperience Design has the vocation of creating an optimized user experience

For the clients software in the context of the IT Roadmap. It intends to do so by:

  • defining the user interfaces concepts
  • producing user interface design specifications
  • applying a state-of-the-art user centred life cycle
  • enabling the application of ergonomics standards

To fulfil its objectives, the UXD centre of excellence has put in place a central team that:

  • defines a user experience strategy and implementation plan;
  • handles centralized activities (or elements common to several projects) in user research, user interface design, web information architecture, accessibility as well as visual design and instructional


  • coordinate activities with other instances of the client dealing directly or indirectly with user


  • build up on internal knowledge and resources.


The candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of user interface design and usability/ergonomics problematic. This should be justified by several years of training and a proven experience in UI design and/or ergonomics.
The candidate should have excellent graphic skills.

  • At least 3 years of experience in user interface design and graphic design
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.0
  • Previous experience with visual styles for complex software applications
  • Team player skills
  • Good English writing skills to produce graphic style documentation

Work Description

The graphic designer will:

  • Adapt an existing look and feel to vision deficient users and define elements of customisation (eg themes)
  • Define a new icon style (eg via an icon workshop) and production of an icon toolkit (for further internal development of icons)
  • Create graphic elements using a set of wireframes developed for one application
  • Create of the corresponding documentation


Adjustment of the visual design to meet the requirements of visually impaired user. This will be accomplished either by adjusting the existing design to their needs or by elaborating an additional theme.

This includes the following:

  • Refining the visual design so that screen elements - including text - can be resized up to 200% without breaking the basic layout (the application should still be usable)
  • Refining the visual design so that customization of certain elements (font face calibri or arial, use of different background, use of different highlight colors, use of different focus colors, etc.) can be offered
  • Definition of elements of customisation for all users (eg focus colour, background colour or structure, highlight colours) and propose a number of options for each case (eg 3 to 5 focus colour options, 3 to 5 background colour or structure, palettes for highlight colours)
  • Development of graphic elements for several applications based on wireframes and the existing visual design style.
  • Documentation of all graphic elements in a style guide (colors codes, measurement, etc.).
  • Preparation and delivery of all image files, including the source files for both the documentation and the images..
