The Industry Solutions Manager is a key role in the management and guidance of the Power Centre of Excellence. The appointee will be accountable for gathering market requirements for the power industry, as it relates to the activities of the COE, expressing this in market requirements specifications and project mandates, and representing these requirements in steering committee meetings for the COE. Using his/her experience of the industry, the appointee will own the business message for products and applications developed by the COE and will provide the material for the development of marketing and other related sales guides.

Reporting directly to Head of Industry Solutions, this role will manage a team of developers and application consultants. The applicant must be prepared to travel when the role requires it. This travel is expected to be frequent.

Principal Accountabilities
The Industry Solutions Manager performs two roles as the manager of the COE: the first relates to the gathering and development of market requirements (Business Manager) and the second to the management of a team of developers (Technical Manager).

Technical Manager: As the Technical Manager, the appointee is expected to lead a team of developers and product specialists to enable the design of functional enhancements which satisfy the requirements as laid out by the Steering Committee for the COE.

Accountabilities include:
- Project Management: plan development activities and work with the technical team lead to ensure that activities are completed on time and to specification
- Resource Management: record, track and report on time spent by team resources on project activities
Ensure that project plans match available resources and that resources are properly utilised.
- Assist in planning ahead for resources and recruiting
- Ensure that COE procedures and guidelines are implemented
- Provide line management to the team (appraisals, personal and skills development, etc).

Business Manager: As the Business Manager, the appointee is responsible for ensuring that the COE is connected closely to the power industry so that developments are suited to the industry and provide value so that they are either marketable as independent applications or otherwise enhance the value of the core product/s for the power industry.

Accountabilities include:
- Maintain a close link with customers and product specialists, both locally and in other sales areas, to ensure that developments are appropriate to the market.
- Provide guidance on the acquisition of customer input, through activities such as Reference Groups and Early Adopters, to ensure that developments are fit for purpose.
- Create and develop market requirements specs and project mandates for developments and other COE projects.
- Develop ROI cases and provide input to product pricing, where appropriate.
- Own the Product Launch Plan for COE products.
- Own the Master Collateral Document for COE products and applications, and assist in other related marketing activities.
- Work with sales teams around the world to educate and train sales and pre-sales resources in relation to COE products and applications.

Important Working Relationships
- Sales: Work with the sales teams to gather input on market requirements and to promote COE products and applications.
- Industry Solutions: Work with the Head of Industry Solutions and other Industry Solutions Managers to develop and refine operating practices to ensure that all COEs operate consistently and efficiently.
- Customers: Develop and maintain good working relationships with clients to assist in identifying and validating market requirements.
- Some years’ experience in Plant products and significant experience in the Power Industry
- Bachelor degree (or equivalent)
- Project and resource management skills
- Good command of both English and German languages
- Good problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage and handle multiple and possibly competing commitments simultaneously
- Strong customer-facing skills
- Very good verbal and written communication skills, including the creation of technical specificications and other documents
- PML, PML.Net and C# (experience is an advantage)
