Our client is currently / urgently looking for Network Engineering Support for operations close to Frankfurt, Germany.

Task Description
- Analysis, specification, planning and implementation of network upgrades and evolutions;
- Specification, implementation and support of quality and performance enhancing and optimization in support of multiple data flows across LAN and WAN links;
- Provision of all necessary support to ensure the seamless integration of the communications network with segment hardware and application software;
- Generation or update of technical documentation (e.g. design specifications as-built/as-planned, maintenance procedures, engineering change requests, anomaly reports, user guides);
- Implementation and maintenance of a campus MPLS/VRF backbone network;
- Installation and configuration of communications equipment (routers, switches, firewalls and multiplexers);
- Monitoring and supervision of the network and comms link status and performance, detecting and investigating network anomalies;
- Liaising with the system administrators of servers for investigation and resolution network related anomalies, or for implementing engineering upgrades and changes;
- Implementation of corrective measures, including testing and validation;
- Ensuring that in case of network equipment failures (including network monitoring platforms) the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of associated recovery procedures;
- Tuning of operating parameters to optimize performance;
- Analyzing problems with WAN links and services;
- Monitoring of security configuration settings
- Implementation of security measures at the network level

Skills
- Cisco certification or be able to substantiate equivalent
Experience
- Experience of specifying, planning and preparing network engineering activities
- Cisco network technology, architectures and equipment, Cisco operating systems
- Campus Backbone network architectures (e.g. MPLS VPN). Network QOS techniques and Solutions
- High availability network techniques and protocols, routing protocols e.g HSRP, VSS, OSPF, BGP, RIP
- Data center network architecture
- Service provider WAN interfacing: using MPLS, SDH, ethernet-based, E1/E3, ISDN, leased line services
- Experience of working and performing the tasks listed above in 24/7 high-availability operations environments
- Solaris, Linux, AIX , Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Configuration and monitoring of network protocols and applications, e.g. DNS, SNMP, FTP, NTP
- Microsoft Office Suite, including MS-Visio
