Our client is currently seeking a Storage Systems Engineer to be based near Darmstadt, near Frankfurt on an initial 2 year daily rate contract to commence around July 2012.
The position requires fluent English speaking and writing and knowledge of French. Knowledge of German is not required.
With a high degree of autonomy and forming part of the storage network infrastructure team, you will provide support to the development and maintenance of storage systems with special focus on archive and retrieval services. The duties include the administration and operation of the central archive systems, maintenance of the external storage, inventory and support to the operation of the storage services.
Our client requires a minimum of 5 years experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed storage systems.
Extensive experience with UNIX, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Backup/Archive technologies is essential.
In addition, as many of the following as possible;
* Oracle/Solaris 10 operating system
* Highly available environments under SUN cluster or equivalent
* Implementation of backup and recovery solutions (Symantec NetBackup or equivalent)
* VTL and Data De-duplication technologies
* High end, automated, tape library systems (StorageTek SL8500 series with ACSLS software)
* Implementation of archive solutions using Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) system (SAM-FS or equivalent)
* SAN topology design and implementation, managing Brocade (or equivalent) Switches, EMC Clariion (or equivalent) storage arrays serving many different types of storage client platforms.
* System/Service monitoring using Nagios framework
* Generation and maintenance of technical documentation
Experience in the administration and troubleshooting on the following shall be considered an advantage:
* Linux Operating System
* Perl and PHP Scripting
* Setting up and maintaining security systems, on host, network and storage level (eg Firewalls, SSL, encryption); SAN Fabric security
* IBM/AIX operating system, virtualization technologies
* PL/SQL
* TCP/IP internetworking and the related network protocols and applications, eg NIS, NFS,
DNS, SNMP, FTP;
