For our customer, an inter-governmental organisation located in Darmstadt/Germany we are looking for several Software Librarians.
Candidates must have a passport of an EU member state or a valid work permit for Germany
TASKS
- Maintenance and development of the as-built software build environments;
- Building and distribution of software releases and patches;
- Support to programmers with respect to software build and development strategies;
- Support the delivery of software externally developed, installation, and testing;
- Investigation into anomalies, their documentation; follow up of S/W corrections;
- Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews;
- Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification;
- Procurement or implementation of the tools to fulfil them;
- Writing of maintenance procedures;
- Interfacing with external contractors who are providing maintenance services;
PROFILE
In addition to having a University degree in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have at least 5 years experience of S/W development, configuration controlled software build environments and experience in S/W packaging, installation and configuration for the operations and maintenance of large, Real Time Monitoring & Control/Data Processing systems. The Consultant shall have a significant work experience in Unix/Linux Operating System and Windows-based environments. He/She should be familiar, to the extent required by the performance of the above tasks, with networking, distributed applications, and TCP/IP services. Knowledge and experience of the following programming languages, software tools and processes is mandatory:
- Software build environments and tools (eg make, imake);
- Source Code control system, preferably CVS, SubVersion or Rational ClearCase;
- Change Management;
- C/C++ programming languages;
- Java programming language;
- Basic UNIX/Linux System Administration;
Practical knowledge of as many as possible of the following software tools and products will be an advantage:
- ECLIPSE or a similar IDE;
- Build environments like MAVEN and ANT;
- Basic UNIX System Administration;
- Basic Windows System Administration;
- Database programming (Sybase and/or Oracle);
- Formalised Software Testing;
- MS-Access, Visual Basic programming;
- FORTRAN programming;

The consultant shall display:
- Very good communication, presentation, and team working skills combined with the ability to perform under very high workloads;
- The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and obtain a system overview;
- A high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills.
- The working language for the position is English and therefore the Consultant must be able to work effectively in this language.
