- good knowledge of image and signal processing techniques
- statistical handling of scientific data
- knowledge of observational techniques in astrophysics (imaging, adaptive optics, spectroscopy)
- Python and Perl
- modern software engineering practices and tools, including CVS, SVN, GNU autotools
- Excellent command of English language
