QUEST is looking for candidate (m/f) for the following assignment/job:

*Project Info*

Our client, a system house, is searching for staff.

You will get a fixed-term employment contract, 12 months, will be closed between you and our customers and will be extended by a further 12 months. Altogether 4 extensions maybe follow.

Information about the perm-position (no freelance):
- You will receive a fixed-term contract.
- The contract will be valid for 12 months. The duration is 4 years.
- You will receive 30 days of vacation.
- Your working hours per week max. 75 hours.
- Overtime and Wochenendarbeiten are paid.
- The treaty will be a Tarfivertrag.
- You will work in an international bank.

*Tasks and Responsibilities*

Provide 3rd level support for the customers operational LAN, MAN and WAN networks including expert assistance in restoring normal service from incidents as quickly as possible and identifying any need for remedial or preventive maintenance.
Investigate, diagnose and resolve system problems using available tools, and assisting 2nd level support staff and report to the Service Desk whenever appropriate
Provide training to 1st and 2nd level support staff with new procedures and techniques
Definition of new concepts and design in the area of the customers LAN, MAN and WAN network technology following security and architecture guidelines.
Contribution to IT projects in the preparation phase regards network technologies, such as technical specification, evaluation and selection of new products and solutions, activity planning and reporting
Contribution to IT projects in the implementation phase regards network technologies, such
as analyses, development, integration and testing, maintenance, release, documentation,
Co-ordination of IT projects in the deployment phase regards network technologies, such as preparation, integration, roll-out to production systems, as well as operational acceptance and handover to Data Centre Operations
Contribute to present network concepts and design to IT-experts, IT-management, taskforces
and work-groups
Participate in the update process of the network security policies and networkarchitecture
Participate in design and preparation of recovery and contingency exercises to ensure that
Data Centre Operations can recover services in accordance with the predefined plans and
documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation related to LAN, Man and WAN
networks including operational requirement and release management plan, transfer knowledge to colleagues and ensure sufficient documentation is available for tasks to be assigned to 1st and 2nd level support.
Plan, prepare, test and implement maintenance activities (such as patches and software
upgrades) which are required to keep system running at optimal conditions.

*Knowledge and skills*

Proven experience in designing, supporting, administering and maintaining mission-critical LAN/MAN and WAN network infrastructure including problem solving and capacity Planning
Excellent knowledge and experience in network protocols, such as
o TCP/IP; QoS techniques, Voice-IP protocols,
o IEEE 802.Ethernet-protocol-suite (802.1D; 802.1Q, 802.1ad; etc);
o Standard, advanced and other routing protocols (OSPF, RIP 2, HSRP; VRRP, BGP,
MPLS, GRE, IGMP, PIM (SM &DM), DVMRP, etc.)
o Network related applications (DNS, DHCP, HTTPs, SSH, Radius/Tacas+, Syslog Server
Excellent knowledge and experience with either of the following areas
o LAN/MAN: Routing, Switching, Wireless, Load balancing and DWDM technologies (Cisco IOS; Cisco-Pix, Checkpoint, Brocade-LB, ADVA) Of advantage is a good knowledge of IT-systems and Operating Systems (Windows, Unix, Linux) LDAP and Active Directory; VMware ESX, RSA Ace erver.
Also of advantage is knowledge of
Network-analyse: (NI-Observer, NAI-Sniffer, TcpDump, Snoop, Ethereal, etc.) and probes (NGenius)
o WAN: Remote Access Solutions (Network access Servers), Dialup on Demand Routing, Autonomous Internet Infrastructure with Multi-homing, VPN standards and technologies; security technologies, encryption algorithms, Firewalls (Checkpoint/Cisco/Juniper) Network Intrusion Detection Systems technologies, Web-application level FW (f5)
o Network-management: System-skills (Linux/Unix/Windows) and Programming skills or Scripting capabilities (PERL, Windows Scripting host, Expect) as well as knowledge in network management environment (HP-OV eHalth, etc.), enterprise reporting tools and concepts and related protocols (SNMP, RMON), of advantage would be also security tools (Nmap, Nessus, ISS security scanner).
Excellent, proven and advanced communication and drafting skills
Very good analytical skills and a problem solving orientation
Knowledge of IT-Service and Project Management processes (such as ITL), in particular in
the areas of problem management, release management, vapacity planning and service
level management
Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation and the ability to work in a team, co-ordinate
own activities and manage activities of others on request are very important

Advanced university degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Physics;
