Austin Fraser are working with one of their top Clients based in Germany. This is a really exciting opportunity for a OSS Engineer/Systems Engineer to work for an excellent worldwide renown company as a OSS Engineer/Systems Engineer.
The OSS Operation/System Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance and technical problem solving in several different types of OSS Performance Management and Reporting applications, as well as the delivery of reports.
Key Tasks:
- Is in charge of resolving incidents reported ie by Trouble Tickets in a given time frame depending on the severity of the TT.
- Is in charge of deveoping and delivering Reports (Performance or other types)
- Performs all types of configuration for example User permissions, OSS application configuration, Patching
- Interacts with the Global NOC in Romania, the local CoE OSS teams and is part of a cross country operations team in EMEA.
- Manages implementation timelines and engineering issues with OSS Engineering (local delivery team)
Key Accountabilities
- 1st/2nd level Incident Management for OSS, on call 24/7
- Problem Management( partially)
- Preventative Maintenance (regular tasks)
- Delivery of reports
Technology and product related key skills
- Must have knowledge in 2G/3G mobile and/or data network technology
- At least 2 years System Administration experience of IT or Telco multi-user Systems running under Unix (Solaris, HP, Linux) including knowledge of the basic services like dns, nis, sendmail, ntp
- sql-queries
- able to write and use shell/awk or Perl scripts.
- Familiar with regular proactive and Preventative maintenance (Backup, Alarm analysis, problem detection)
- experience with Veritas Backup/recovery
Qualifications
- Proofed experience in a support environment, preferable in telecommunication
- Analytical mind with good problem solving skills and able to work independently and under stress
- Good communications and documentation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (additionally German, if possible)

- Team player, and able to work on own initiative
- Culturally adaptable and flexible
- Ability to assimilate quickly and act decisively
