German speaking Data Centre Technical Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced German speaking Data Centre Technical Engineer to join a well established blue chip organisation based in Bochum.
As a German speaking Data Centre Technical Engineer you will be responsible for the day to day operations of the two sites in Bochum Data Centres.
You will be responsible for the physical installation and patching of any components including technical troubleshooting at all levels. You will also be involved in Process Management including but not limited to Permits to work, Security, HSSE, Change Control and Goods In/Out processes.
Responsibilities:
* Understanding HP HSSE Policy.
* Manage the procurement system (BP SAP) for contract, resource and spares activity
* Carry out Tape librarian duties in accordance with the process
* Provide QA assurance on all installations/decommissions
* Ensuring that HP HSSE policy and procedures are adhered to
* Management of the PtW and JSA (RAMS) process
* Ensuring compliance with HP Quality standards for server installations and patching
* Understanding of IPR planning sheets to patch and install associated components.
* Processing deliveries in accordance with HP Goods in/Goods procedures
* Management of the de-box and stores areas
* Maintenance and audit Installations the Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
* Production of relevant Facilities reports
* Understanding and adherence to ITIL processes.
* Actively evaluate Change Requests through the Change Control Process
* Processing of Permits to Work and Access procedures
* Capacity Planning at site level
* The physical installation and patching of components within both data centres.
* Troubleshoot both fibre and copper faults using light source, fluke testers and MODTAP
* Troubleshoot hardware faults at all levels
* Troubleshoot issues in relation to the KVM
* Cable management within each cabinet and ensuring that it complies with HP High Cabling Standards.
* The Understanding and implementation of rack and stack installation procedures.
* To maintain and deliver a clean and safe operational environment within the two data centre
* Actively liaise and engage with 3rd Party Maintenance companies
* Actively liaise and engage with Project Managers at all levels
Key Skills:
* MS-Windows 2000/XP (Workstation/Professional)
* MS-Window (Server)
* MS SQL Server 2000
* LAN/WAN technologies (active hardware, IP, cabling systems)
* Understanding of Cisco IOS fundamentals and competent in the use of host connectivity software
* Competent in the use of all Microsoft Office Productivity Software
* Previous experience in Facilities role within an IT environment (3 years)
* Previous experience of racking, stacking and patching within an IT environment (5 years)
* Previous experience of server hardware maintenance and troubleshooting within an IT environment (5 years)
* Previous experience of server configuration and management within an IT environment (5 years)
* Speak, read and write both German and English
This is a three month rolling contract and their maybe an element of on-call on top.
