Meteorological Product Software Engineer, Contract in Germany
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the General Service Division of a highly reputable international organisation based in Darmstadt, Germany. The contract duration is three years, with  two options  to extend activities by a further year. 

The consultant providing the service shall have experience with the installation and configuration of UNIX computer systems and must mandatorily provide the following skills as part of this support:

In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing, the Consultant shall have a minimum of 3 years' experience of operational processing of satellite or meteorological data.

Specifically the Consultant shall have experience in:
-      Development of operational software using Fortran and/or C and preferably C++ in a UNIX environment
-      Validation of meteorological products
-      Configuration control of software and data
-      Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification

Furthermore, experience of working in the following would be an advantage:
-      Mathematical modelling and scientific computing
-      Operational environments
-      Visualization/prototyping tools such as IDL or Matlab
-      Algorithms for derivation of Atmospheric Motions Winds products.
