Ground Stations Maintenance Engineer Consultant. An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Operations Department of a highly reputable international organisation based in Germany. The contract duration is approximately three years (beginning November 2011), with two options to extend activities by a further year.

In addition to a University degree in a relevant discipline, candidates must demonstrate experience in the Operations and Maintenance of Large Ground Stations and/or Ground Stations Engineering/Integration.

Prerequisites:
Ground Station design/integration/testing;
large antennas and tracking systems including Antenna Control Unit (ACU)/Tracking receivers for LEO and GEO missions;
TT&C baseband equipment (including ranging systems) including of type IN-SNEC Cortex;
High Data Rate Demodulators; maintenance and operations of large ground stations including site infrastructure;
Local and remote Monitoring & Control of large ground station and related databases and automated procedures;
In Orbit Test (IOT) systems.

Any additional experience in the following is not mandatory, but would be considered a distinct advantage:
Commercial satellite and micro wave data links;
basic knowledge of WAN, LAN and TCP/IP protocol;
the principals of power generation in the areas of Uninterruptable Power Supplies and back-up generator functions;
timing systems, GPS;
IV&V of ground station systems within a 24/7 operational environment;
Provision of out of hours (24/7) on-call support services

Applicants must be fluent in English, with a sound knowledge of French.
