We are currently looking for a legal consultant (m/f/d) for a Spanish energy sales project

Volume: ca. 40 PT
location: Essen and remote
Language: German, English, Spanish (both fluent in spoken and written)
Background:
Based on previous experiences from a microgrid demonstration site in Sweden, the client has demonstrated the potential of new, innovative technologies for local balancing in order to guarantee the secure and reliable operation of a local energy system that relies on a renewable energy source penetration of up to 100% and the potential of using elements of this technology for a cost-effective integration of renewables into the electricity grids.
Additionally, since 2016 the Clean Energy Package for all Europeans published by the European Commission opened the door to a new market player called Local Energy Communities (LEC). The client sees the possibility, that LECs can become the regulatory vehicle that enables a cost-effective integration of renewables by implementing innovative technologies in those cases where all the involved actors are benefited by it. In Spain this regulation is represented by the Royal decree --- with a provision on collective self-consumption. For this reason, support is needed to help our team communicate the successes achieved so far and the vision we follow.
Together with internal regional units and external suppliers, these activities will be driven forward.
Tasks:
- Create an overview of contracts and legal actions required for a pilot project in Spain.
- Research additional requirements resulting from new regulations
- Explain needs and options for stakeholders with different backgrounds
- Advise on drafting and revising contracts with local legal counsel
- Advise on replication of the approach in other countries (eg, Italy)
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
Goal: Ensure legal compliance of the pilot project in Spain.
Skills:
* Experience in legal advisory on various contracts (energy sales: end customers, prosumers, sales agents; associations, data protection, consent for data usage etc.)
* 5+ years of practicing
* Previous hands-on experience in reviewing and creating contracts, agreements and other legal documents
* Ability to assess legal compliance needs for complex projects
* Ability to analyze novel regulations for additional implications
* Creative approach to problem-solving
* Ability to organize and steer work with partners
* Ability to make decisions and meet tight deadlines
* Ability to operate effectively within an international, highly flexible, multidisciplinary team structure, recognizing and embracing the benefits of diversity
Nice-to-have:
* Basic knowledge of the energy industry
* Experience with energy communities/cooperatives
