DevOps/Terraform Engineer:Platform & Automation: Terraform Engineer develops core IaC modules to support the transformation towards fully automated catalog item deployments, as part of a wider Move to the Cloud transformation project. The Terraform Engineer will work within an automation team who own, develop and drive the end to end automation of our services provided through a service catalog to our internal business customers.
Requirements
Has experience in multiple system environments.
Should also be experienced in designing, developing, and test applications.
Combine multiple technologies to provide alternative physical solutions
Performs analysis of business models, logical specifications and/or user requirements to design solutions.
Responsible for the application development as well as the application environment
Understands various types of tools and technologies on the market and their appropriate usage
Responsibilities extend to all components of an application and application environment including front, back, and middle tiers where applicable.
These individuals can lead a tool evaluation effort, including the definition of the evaluation criteria, identification of tools to be evaluated, and the actual evaluation
Has worked on various platforms including mainframes, minis and micros
Work may involve interacting with and managing product vendors/suppliers
Perform as a Team Leader when required. (5+ years experience)
Responsibilities:
Develop catalog items utilizing Terraform, from the backlog of business requests and internal Platform & Automation teams requests coming from the Platform Architecture and Engineering Competency Centers.
Solve complex integration aspects for automation, including creation of custom provisioners to integrate with downstream systems APIs.
Develop catalog modules as infrastructure provisoners within our CD/CMP tooling
Participate in detailed code reviews as part of the Automation Team's SDLC
Expand Platform & Automations SAST Check Library for IaC code, ensuring all code against resources is covered and includes CIS compliance checks Within checkov.io
Collaborate efficiently and effectively with Engineers and Product teams on complex problems involving functionality and scaling/performance.
Responsible for coordinating and prioritizing execution across all related feature teams including move to cloud, DEEP and other requirements as needed
Focused on delivering high quality and scalable solutions to production, working closely with service architecture / design and operations teams
Skills and Experience:
Understanding of both public and private cloud paradigms
Proficient in Terraform, Azure, AWS, Kubernetes
Experienced with Go, Bash/Shell, ARM and Java
Experience with CI/CD tooling and various pipeline stage tooling
Experience deploying environments and applications (Kubernetes and OpenShift knowledge desirable)
Experience in successful software engineering and development.
Understands and supports the product and technical strategies
Understands/stays current on domain architecture & targets to identify upstream/downstream dependencies and to support the team in risk management
Proactively identifies impediments & appropriately resolves using network of peers and formal channels (including escalation if required)
Must understand the Scrum Agile methodology and preferably worked on a Scrum team
Adaptable to new/different strategies, programs, technologies, practices, cultures, etc. ; comfortable with change, able to easily makes transitions.
Computer science or engineering degree (or related experience)
