We are looking for an IT Specialist - Wintel Engineer in the area of Basel:Tasks:
- Define, optimize, standardize the IT architecture on a global basis within the global ENGINE AD and server environment.
- Ensure that overall ENGINE architecture satisfies defined performance, security and availability parameters.
- Identify (preferably proactively) any shortcomings in performance and propose solutions for their correction.
- Ensure adequacy of upgrades.
- Makes recommendations to improve the developed solution’s efficiencies.
- Provide technical expertise for the planning and definition of new system requirements: perform feasibility and performance studies, including benchmark, capacity planning, sizing, etc.
- Develop appropriate systems recommendations to meet user needs, including system configurations and installation planning.
- Prepare and present technical product information to user community.
- Support and be responsible for defined system administration activities on an allocated/defined system or environment.
- Support and improve system environment and services (sizing).
- Write related documentation and communicate.
- Promote and sponsor information flow and know-how transfer to the team in charge of daily operations.
- Ensure efficient programming and implementation.
- Develop presentations on infrastructure products and new technology for technical staff.
- Report to the TL in a timely fashion with clear fact based communication and proposal.
- Use and follow established technology and standards
- Work independently with minor coaching
- Experience with and understanding of other technology domains and their interactions.
Skills:
- IT education (detailed)
- Knowledge of server hardware
- Superior knowledge of MS-Windows (all core infrastructure components such as AD, WINS, DNS, Exchange…)
- Software Distribution systems principles and scripting (TPM, NetInstall)
- Knowledge of System Management Tools (NetInstall, MOM, Tivoli).
- Knowledge of Networking Technology
- Knowledge of MS development tools (such as Scripting, C++, VB …)
- Knowledge of Virtualization products (VMware ESX and workstation)
- Knowledge of the ENGINE architecture is required
- Fluent in English and German
