I am currently working with a large company that is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer for a 6 month project.This is an exciting position that would suit someone that has come from an SRE background and focus on the Dev (60% of the time) and Ops (40% of the time).
Duration: 6 months
Location: 90% Remote (100% remote for the first few months)
Start Date: September
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and improve the availability, performance and security of production services
• Apply prevention steps in order to improve production services reliability
• Mitigate issues on production systems and build solutions through automation to prevent them from reoccurring
• Enhance and feed the monitoring system to improve service reliability and to provide other teams with the dashboards to help deliver an excellent service to the customers
• Automate common, repeatable tasks using Open Source Puppet and scripting languages
• Triage and manage escalation of cases
• Performance deliberate and structured Troubleshooting
• Influence design / architecture of services to proactively prevent system failures
Requirements:
• 3-5 years of experience focused on site reliability, DevOps Engineering, system administration or application development
• Strong hands-on experience in:
o Linux
o Network architecture and security configurations
• Hands-on experience with the following scripting technologies:
o Automation/Configuration management using Puppet (Open Source), Chef, Ansible or an equivalent
o Python, Golang, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in Cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Storage, Containers and Deployment would be highly advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong hands-on technical abilities
• Strong computer literacy and/or the comfort, ability and desire to advance technically
• Demonstrated ability to assume sole and independent responsibilities
• Ability to keep track of numerous detail-intensive, interdependent tasks and ensure their accurate completion
