Data Engineer – Python / AWS or GCP / NoSQL - FreelanceA Data Engineer (freelance) is required for a minimum 6-month contract with one of the most recognisable brands in the Travel industry. This is an incredible opportunity for someone experienced with Cloud technologies and coding languages such as Python or Java to join the business during an exciting period of growth.

The successful Data Engineer will be joining an agile engineering team of keen, curious and smart employees. They will work with the Cloud platform to deliver the best and most relevant data to the company's millions of users as well as other teams within the business.
They will be a part of the company's source team, proactively contributing to a product that is used by millions each day. They will craft and build scalable applications for the data platform on AWS and GCP that can withstand billions of events, using tech such as Apache Kafka, Lambda, Kinesis and Hadoop.
The ideal Data Engineer will have:
• 3+ years of experience in (agile) Data Engineering
• 2+ years experience building AWS or GCP data pipelines
• A Bachelors degree in computer science or an outstanding Github profile
• Experience in either Python, Node.js, Ruby or Java
• Experience working with highly scalable systems, preferably in the cloud
• Good knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
Desirable skills for the successful Data Engineer would be:
• Hands on experience or knowledge in distributed systems/ steaming data technologies
• Experience delivering complex and highly impactful tech products to a large user base
• Ability to present complex topics to non-technical peers and stakeholders
This is a fantastic opening for a Data Engineer to take ownership in their role and to contribute their own ideas of how to bring the best and most relevant data to end users, helping them make key decisions.
They will work closely with stakeholders and other teams, helping to map business requirements into technical solutions that will have real impacts. They will be an ambassador for cloud technologies, sharing the knowledge among colleagues in peer exchanges, guild meetings and meet-ups.
