What are we looking for?
We are currently seeking individuals that have the experience required to join our Company as Big Data Engineer - Platform Design & Implementation collaborating to build one of the most advanced big data platforms in the world.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, Implement and maintain distributed, service-oriented and message-oriented data platform components
- Design, build, and maintain data ingestion, ETLs and infrastructure for batch and near Real Time processing
- Build and maintain Data Services and Streaming Architectures.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- At least 2 years' experience in building and optimizing scalable data systems as a Data
- Engineer, with possible background as a Software Engineer
- Experience in Software Engineering
- Good programming skills in Java or Scala (Scala is a plus)
- Hands-on experience with Big Data Technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Hadoop FS, (Hive, Impala, Drill or similar), planning the capacity and estimating hardware requirements
- Good knowledge of Linux and Shell Scripting
- Fluency in Python and OOP
- Experience with Hadoop, plus distributions like Cloudera, MapR or Hortonworks
- Experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience with NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB, HBASE, Redis or Cassandra
- Test-Driven Development
- Experienced with Datamodelling, design patterns, building highly scalable and secured solutions
- Experience with Amazon AWS and DevOps and Automation
- Familiarity with performance metric tools
- Knowledge of visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, Airflow, Business Objects)
- Agile team-working experience
- Ability to work with encrypted or privacy related data (GDPR)
- Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbally
- Remarkable people skills and ability to adapt to a dynamic environment
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced start-up
- Able to work from our office in Berlin

Contract Conditions:
Daily Rate: Competitive/Market Rate
Contract Length: 3 months + extensions
