Specialist for next generation sensing for medical-research project (m/f)

Main tasks:
- Research project about next generation image acquisition in a medical application context
- Target is to evaluate various sensing modalities for tissue discrimination within the field of minimal invasive surgery
- Including surveying the academic literature, preparation of tissue samples with sufficient pathological understanding, possibly augmented with simulation models for tissues, preparation and validation of image acquisition set-ups in optics lab, evaluation of images and subsequent algorithm development e.g. for visibility enhancement
- Assist in the project in every aspect
Main qualifications
- Profound knowledge of conducting technical research projects with or inside a company
- Medical domain, ideally endoscopy/laparoscopy and aspects of image acquisition technologies for medical applications is beneficial
- Experience in working with cameras and optical devices in optics lab
- Knowledge of low-level camera signal processing and image processing algorithm development in Matlab and C/C++
- Ideally a background in physics, medical engineering (Medizintechnik) or a comparably field - PhD is beneficial
- Good communication skills, English language skills, German language skills are welcome, the ability to work flexibly within a team and to adopt practices on implementing, reporting and documenting project targets and results
