For one of our clients we are looking for a C# and .NET DeveloperTask description:
The main task of the Surveillance Unit (SUN) is to gradually take over the responsibility for the surveillance of communicable diseases at the EU level. In close collaboration with the experts of the national surveillance institutes, streamlined technical systems are being built, data analysed and the information disseminated to those who need it for the promotion of good health in Europe. The unit is operating and developing The European Surveillance System (TESSy) to collect, analyse and disseminate data on communicable diseases in the EU.
Before ECDC was established in 2005, 17 dedicated surveillance networks (DSN) was monitoring the surveillance of infectious diseases in Europe. To this day, roughly half of these networks have been integrated into ECDC and several more are coming in 2010 and 2011. When integrating a DSN, the surveillance component is integrated into TESSy, which may require system development. In addition to this, there is a backlog of remaining development from previous DSN takeovers.
Main responsibilities:
• The consultant should report to the head of the development team.
• The consultant should participate in the daily 0930 meetings and the weekly Friday meetings with the rest of the development team.
• The consultant should work as defined in the weekly objectives in agreement with the head of the development team.
Required skills:
• Excellent knowledge of C# and the .NET framework
• Profound experience in designing using UML
• Excellent knowledge of ASP.NET
• Experience with implementation of SOAP and web services is advantages
• Should have experience and like the challenges of system maintenance, further development and refactoring of existing systems.
• Experience of Share Point is advantages
