Summary Job Description

The overall remit of the Data Architect is to

Support application development solution design from data architect perspective
Support the projects and work packages during the Analysis, design and development Phases
Understand the technical design of the application and data interrelations and interdependencies with other applications.
Ensure that data governance process and documentation is in place (directory, data models etc)
Ensure data architecture meets compliance regulations

The applicant should be a ‘team player’ but also able to work on his or her own initiative and have strong communication skills, complimented by a ‘customer focused’ attitude. A proven track record within the application development is a must for this post.


Responsibilities:

Support application development solution design from data architectural perspective

Support the projects and work packages during the Analysis, design and development Phases
Ensure architectural data designs meet company standards and regulations
Ensure that designs are documented within data models and descriptions

Understand the technical design of the application and its interrelations and interdependencies with other applications
Identify and report any associated risks.
Working closely with the analyst and applied architect

Ensuring Quality Assurance and compliance of data designs
Ensure standards are in place for database architectural design
Check completeness of and compliance the data design

Ensure data design and data flows from input to output are efficient and optimal
Ensure relevant data architecture and tools for transactional and Management Information systems


Job Requirements/Key skills

Good understanding of data modelling techniques
Good knowledge of Service Orientated architecture
Good understanding of data warehouse concepts
An understanding of the concepts of Oracle Golden Gate and Fusion middleware
Familiarity with SPARX modelling tool would be desirable but not essential
Must be good in "conceptual and analytic thinking" and must have a methodical way of working
Good documentation, communication and networking skills, presenting complex technical topics to technical and non-technical people
Assertiveness and strong networking abilities
Strong planning and organising skills
Target-driven and results oriented
