We are looking for a “Cloud Infrastructure & Network Engineer (m/f/d)” for our customer in the telecommunications sector with the following basic conditions:Start: March 2021
Duration: 12 months +
Location: Ratingen/Milan (mostly remote)
Responsibilities:
• The Cloud Infrastructure & Network Engineer is responsible for delivering, maintaining, and optimizing NFV Cloud Platforms and related infrastructure, network, database, and middleware capabilities to support and enable the development and operations of Cloud modules and solutions.
• This role is responsible for reviewing NFV Cloud solution designs, understanding their impact on the associated infrastructure, network and ensuring the availability of supporting and enabling infrastructure from internal or external service providers
• This role is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the operational capacity, availability, and performance of the NFV Cloud solutions against SLAs from a level two and level three support perspective
• This role is responsible for providing NFV Cloud platform and infrastructure/network-related level two and level three incident and problem management
• Deploying HW configurations for compute nodes (VMware), design and deploy network components (VxLANs, Network Controllers, BGP) for core NFVi platform
• Work with Private and Public Cloud service providers to forecast and right-size long-term capacity and performance requirements, iterating regularly
• Determine user and technical story impact on existing architecture, work processes and systems
• Design and implement supporting platform/infrastructure/network and tooling for software module development, orchestration, and operations
• Perform tasks such as operating System hardening based on agreed procedure, assist on Provisioning VM from appliance images, creation of tenants
• Design and implement supporting database and middleware capabilities to support software module development and operations
• Monitor and maintain Platform/infrastructure/network performance, capacity, and availability, providing 2nd and 3rd level of support for the resolution of infrastructure-related incidents and problems
• Perform QA and Post-deployment support
• Explore automation opportunities and deliver automation scripts
Requirements:
• Systems analysis and infrastructure & network design in telco-scale environments. Experience in basic telco components (HLR, SMSC, etc)
• Basic Security Concepts (Authentication, Certificates, AD, LDAP ect)
• Database technologies - RDBMS, e.g. GaussDB, MySQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle and NoSQL e.g. Cassandra, Spark, Redis, Mongo,etc.
• Storage NAS, iSCSI and SDS
• Infrastructure and Network test design, execution, and validation in large scale Datacenter environment (Cisco, Huawei CloudEngine Series Switches)
• Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure, Cloud automation and configuration management tools, e.g. (Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
• Public and private cloud IaaS and PaaS deployment models and technologies, e.g. (Openstack, AWS, Azure)
• Micro-service architecture and Containers technology (Docker, Mesos,etc.)
• Virtualization and infrastructure technologies, e.g. KVM, VMWare, Docker, Xen
• Infrastructure and Network capacity, performance, and availability management
• Infrastructure and IT management frameworks, such as ITIL and COBIT
• Infrastructure & network event monitoring, incident, and problem management
• Continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and tools
• At least two or more programming and scripting languages, e.g. Ruby, Python, PHP
• Highly cross-functional and able to swap and perform adjacent roles and responsibilities at short notice
• Flexibility to deal with changing projects and priorities in a short space of time
• Strong creativity, analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
• Strong relationship building, persuasion, and collaboration skills that drives effective constructive feedback and support
• Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to distil difficult technical concepts into simple and actionable practices
• Strong time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple balls, and comfortable working under pressure
• Willingness to track, assess, and incorporate practice and technology developments and innovation into day-to-day working
• Good understanding of the business capability / user journey, wider organizational goals, and desired product business outcomes
• Understanding of both the current Telecommunications and digital services market and emerging business and technology trends
• Solid financial skills, with the ability to create business cases and budget requests
• Master’s or bachelor’s degree or technical institute certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems or another related field
• Three to five years of work experience in designing, developing, deploying and / or administering infrastructure solutions
• Experience of current and emerging virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud and containers technologies and architectures, such as Windows, LinUX/UI, AWS, Azure, Docker etc.
• Experience of configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt etc.
• Experience working with programming and scripting languages, such as Ruby and Python
• Experience working closely with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, XP, and with teams leveraging DevOps and Continuous Delivery / Integration
• Strong understanding of IT management best practice frameworks, such as ITIL and COBIT
• Professional experience and knowledge of the Telecommunications industry preferred
