Tasks
• Administration of Unix System-derivatives in large scale environments
• Planning and implementation of technology changes including the associated migration
• Creation of scripts for automatic control of administrative activities (Ansible, etc.)
• Troubleshooting / second level support in national and international areas
• Support customers in all Unix-related topics
• Project management in an international environment
• 24/7 OnCall support
• Create and Maintain technical documentation
• First point of escalation for all technical and process issues.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise wherever required
• Ensure proper communication and quick resolution as a crisis manager.
• Timely escalation to management
• Plan and schedule Changes coordinating with different stakeholders.
• Service incidents and queries within the agreed service levels
• Perform RCA for Major Incidents related to his / her tower
• OS Hardening & Patching
• Software management
• Provide input for Weekly and monthly status reports
• Participate in business meetings with various stake holders on a need basis
• Work on the service improvement programs.
• Effort estimation/reviews on need basis for new projects.
• Training of new team members.
• Work with project teams for activities such as new server build, OS upgrades, migrations etc.
• Use cases identification and Automation of tasks using Shell / Python / Perl scripting
Skills
• Administration of Linux Systems derivatives, focus: RedHat
• Administration of RedHat Satelite/Suse Manager
• Scripting know-how (Shell, Python or similar)
• Usage of Ansible/Git
• Administration of Suse on Power and first experience with Hana on Power
• Administration of AIX systems incl. knowledge in Power System components (HMC, CSM, VIO, NIM)
• Experience in provisioning of LPARS
• LDAP/ NIS+ / DNS configuration
• Experiences in usage of Shared Storage Pools/GPFS,
• Expert in Volume Manager (LVM / VxVM)
• Server / OS Crash analysis
• Performance tuning
• Configuration &Troubleshooting of Network & Storage Multi-pathing.
• Automation using configuration management tools like Ansible/Chef/Puppet
• Expertise in Configuration & Troubleshooting of Virtualization & Cluster activities
o Virtualization (KVM / RHEV / VMware ESXi)
o High Availability (Red Hat Cluster / Veritas Cluster / MC Service Guard)
o Virtualization (Power VM, VIO, HMC, LPAR, DLPAR)
