Are you a cross-functional infrastructure engineer with a background in integration of business applications into the Windows and Linux platform, AWS, and VMWare?
This ideal candidate will have ideally started building modern infrastructure using Ansible, Cloud Formation and potentially have exposure to Kubernetes and Docker.
The team is rapidly moving towards being an infrastructure Dev/Ops function. Your appointment will support the team to reach a critical mass of capability and scale.
Responsibilities as our Cloud Platform Engineer include:
- Be the SME for the Windows operating system hosted on VMWare and public cloud services
- Consult with application and platform developers to define technical solutions.
- Automate and orchestrate the delivery of infrastructure and platform services
- Provide 3rd and 2nd line support for the Windows server estate across all locations, private and public IaaS services
- Define and maintain the operational standards for Windows Servers: security, backup, recovery, patching and availability
- Provide internal systems integrator consulting to support application teams navigate 3rd party infrastructure service providers
- Deliver engineering projects to deploy configurations across the Windows server estate
Skills and Experience required of our Cloud Platform Engineer:
Essential
- Experience collaborating and leading developers to define technical infrastructure solutions
- Ability to communicate technical ideas and vision in business and developer terms
- Ability to prioritise work under demanding timescales
- Ability to produce and maintain high quality process and procedure documentation
- Ability to develop and manage service metrics and reporting
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision
Desirable
- ITIL V2/V3 foundation Certificate
- Degree in an IT related subject
- Experience of Service Now or similar service management platform
