Tasks:
- The Tools Engineer in the Engineering Tools and Processes (TAP) group is responsible for the planning, development, alignment and administration of all engineering development tools in his/her areas of responsibility to accomplish company mandated targets. The relevant areas of responsibility are systems, mechanical, electrical, software, optical engineering, Product Lifecycle Management, Application Lifecycle Management or preferably a combination of those.
- Define, specify, implement and maintain necessary engineering tools in own area of expertise
- Define standards and methods for engineering tool usage, interactions, system interfaces, etc.
- Develop tool training and help guides as needed.
- Maintain interface to Engineering and Development Quality to establish:
o Continuous improvement of processes, interfaces, methods and templates
o Continuous improvement of global engineering tool chain
- Investigate and be aware of new tools in the industry or from current tool suppliers that we should evaluate.
- Support development of global engineering tool chain roadmap to include strategies, business plans, usage models and growth plans.
- Develop, maintain and achieve project planning for engineering tools development and roll-out
- Work closely with IT to ensure global system and tool requirements are comprehended and developed.
- Optimize cost efficiency by development and implementation of tool licensing and utilization models
- Ensure availability and functionality of global engineering tool chain
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts for processes and tools
- Perform detailed work assignments provided by the mentor or team member, by applying established and well-defined engineering techniques. Work assignments primarily involve entry level or intermediate work.
- Ensures that facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
- Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE);
- Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS) the size of the team
Skills:
- Practical working experience as engineer in usage of relevant engineering applications for at least 2 of the relevant areas of responsibility (Systems-, Mechanical-, Electrical-, Software-, Optical- Engineering, PLM, ALM)
- Advanced knowledge in tool and system administration of relevant engineering tools
- Advanced knowledge in specification of tool requirements for software development
- Advanced knowledge of Automotive Standards eg V-Model, SPICE/CMMI or comparable
- Advanced knowledge of databases
- Basic knowledge of product development using waterfall, v-model or agile methods
- Basic knowledge in roadmap definition for engineering tools
- Basic knowledge in budget management for engineering tools
- Basic understanding of software licensing models
- Basic knowledge of project management
- Advanced knowledge in Requirements and Configuration Management Systems (ie PTC Integrity
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office package (ie MS Excel)
- Basic knowledge in Programming language (ie SQL, Java)
- Comprehensive knowledge of German and English (speak and write)
