Oracle Database Administrator

For our client, a well known international IT company, we are looking for a Database Administration for multiple engines over multiple platforms.
A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. Additional role requirements include planning, system development and troubleshooting.
Skills:
- University degree in Computer Science or equivalent and relevant operational experience with at least two commercial DBMS (ie Oracle, MySQL) and with strong administration
- RDBMS Certification a plus
- Datamodelling and database designing hands-on
- Strong core technology skills with hands-on exposure on latest or mainstream engine versions and features
- Field experience in supporting critical production high availability workloads
- Advanced HW, OS, and SAN infrastructure knowledge
- Good Scripting knowledge (ie Shell, Perl, python)
- Perfect English verbal and written communication
Major Responsibilities:
- Establishing the needs of users and facilitate monitoring user access and security
- Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast database services
- Considering both 'Back End' organization of data and 'Front End' accessibility for end users
- Supporting the 'logical design' so that it can be translated into a specific data model
- Refining the 'physical design' to meet system storage requirements
- Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (RDBMS)
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata')
- Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
- Provide means supporting the control of access permissions and privileges
- Developing, managing and testing backup and recovery plans
- Ensuring that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are operating correctly
- Support capacity planning objectives
- Working closely with IT project managers, Development and Operational support teams
- Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
- Commissioning and installing new DB solutions
