Senior Infrastructure Engineer (English/French and German languages)

Working with this prestigious EU organisation the Infrastructure Engineer shall provide consultancy to the Technical and Scientific Support
Department within the Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division.

You will be performing the following tasks, including, but not limited to:

- Taking charge and full responsibility of infrastructure projects assigned
by the Technical Infrastructure Manager from the infrastructure project portfolio. These
projects can be migrations and relocation's of existing infrastructure, building new
infrastructure for future programs, additions and enhancements to existing
infrastructure elements such as video and workstations, new builds and changes to power
and cooling infrastructure, fiber and copper cabling, rack assembly. Project management
activity also includes defining the demand for external resources and the management
thereof when on site.
- Conducting communication of technical nature with contractors, suppliers and project
stakeholders.
- Supporting the IM&E CA Manager in project scheduling.
- Supporting IM&E CA Manager in project related procurement by sourcing different
materials and equipment and collecting price offers for these. This does not imply budget
responsibility for the incumbent.
- Responsible for warehousing and logistics of consumable materials for operations
including the maintenance and application of a proper warehousing and material handling
procedure.
- Responsible for preparing obsolete material for disposal complete with appropriate
documentation
- Properly using the Infrastructure productivity tools such as iPatch for cable management,
the Schneider Electric StruxtureWare DCIM package.
- Preparing design documents (technical notes in line with corporate terminology) for complex
projects that are assigned to or initiated by the GSI/IM&E CA.
- Preparing design drawings using Visio for the projects mentioned above.
- Perform hands-on tasks such as server, Workstation, communication and video equipment
installation for existing and new operational programs and moving material out and
into the Infrastructure storage areas.
- Outside peak periods when external resources are not available the Infrastructure
Engineer is required to carry out additional hands on tasks such as rack assembly, patch
cable installation, assisting in power box installation

PROFILE

The candidate shall have the a Bachelor degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or
equivalent, an overall working experience of 10 to 15 including 8 to 10 years experience in
the following specific areas:

- Familiarity with data center infrastructure elements: power, cooling, space
management, racks, cabling and patching (copper and fiber).
- Familiarity with data center operations procedures: access, security, maintenance
windows, mission critical processes, etc.
- Experience in coordinating simple projects (5-10 resources, project budget order of
magnitude up to 20K EUR).
- Good communications skills with external and internal resources and stakeholders.
- Business acumen to identify financially viable and sustainable technical solutions.
- User experience related to some current ERP or workflow management system such
as SAP, Oracle, Siebel or Remedy.
- Good knowledge of warehousing and material handling procedures as well as the
knowledge of the disposal of electronic materials.
- Proficiency in work procedures related to server, Workstation, communication
equipment installation as well as rack assembly, electrical installations, cabling,
patching and other maintenance activity around control and data centers.
- The key person must be a licensed electrician.
- Experience in a 24/7, mission critical environment.

The knowledge of a cabling management system and/or a DCIM system such as APC
Struxtureware, Nlyte, ABB Decathlon, Emerson Trellis is a distinct advantage.

English and French. However for this position, taking into account the
need of relationships primarily with local companies, a good
knowledge of written and spoken German is desirable.

DELIVERABLES

The typical expected deliverables are:

- Technical Notes with budgets.
- Visio and DCIM rack elevations and floor plans .
- Project progress reports.
- Project schedules.
- Consumable stock level reports
- Material and equipment sourcing reports with parameters and prices
- Monthly report with worked hours and activities performed for invoicing purposes.

This position will commence July 2017 for a period of two years with the possibility of two 1 year extensions.
