Reporting to the Professional Services Manager or Team Leader, this is a highly technical role, providing Architectural, Design and Implementation Consultancy support for Junipers Networks Solutions for Service Provider customers. Consultant will be required to develop and maintain expertise on SP Network Architectures and solutions, e.g. Core Routing, BNG, Triple-Play, NGN, etc.
This is a full-time position, based out of Zürich (Switzerland), working as part of a wider Juniper Professional Services team. Typical activities are around the following key areas;
• Leading workshops to identify and understand customer requirements
• Developing and documenting High- and Low-Level Network Designs
• Design Validation and Verification testing
• Interoperability testing
• Network Implementation
• Trouble-shooting/fault finding
• Knowledge Transfer workshops
The main purpose of this job is to work with a major Juniper Networks Service Provider customer to ensure the smooth design, planning, migration and integration of Juniper Networks Products into new and/or existing networks.
A Juniper PS Design consultant provides guidance and is (technically) leading in order to provide high quality network design, service design, planning, engineering and implementation consulting services to the customer, to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and thereby increase potential business opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in a consultative manner with customers, sales, customer services and systems engineering to scope and deliver Professional Service projects. Typical tasks & duties will include:
• Run requirements and scoping workshops with the customer, delivery partners and sales.
• Technical lead for major network deployments and migrations. Produce design, validation, and migrations plans.
• Lead implementation and/or execution of those plans.
• Evaluate customer networks for performance, scalability, and security and provide recommendations to customers about improvements to network configurations and topologies to prevent problems before they occur.
• Develop and maintain an in-depth technical knowledge of (mainly) the Juniper Networks MX -series equipment.
• Work with the internal Juniper Networks technical teams for placement of products and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability.
• Work closely with colleagues and customer’s personnel to help test, design, and plan for deployments of new products and features.
• Support networks in early stages of deployment
• Formulate network management strategies
• Ensure that PS aspects of engagement follow engagement and delivery processes, working closely with the appropriate Project or Program Manager
• Provide appropriate training (Knowledge Transfer workshops).
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the customer's technical management and teams
REQUIREMENTS
• Education to bachelor degree level preferred, with 5+ yrs experience in a technical role, including > 3 years spent supporting large IP networks.
• Very strong knowledge (CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE level) of the operation, design principles and troubleshooting of TCP/IP, BGP, BNG/Subscriber management, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, QoS/CoS, IPv6, Multicast, etc. is key.
• Although training will be provided, good knowledge of JUNOS and Juniper MX/M/T-series products is desirable. Additional experience and expertise (e.g. Juniper SRX series) is beneficial.
• Effective consultancy, planning & communication skills, excellent inter-personal skills, ability to work on multiple projects and manage customers appropriately.
• Must be fluent in German. Good English language skills required.
• Work location for this role is Switzerland, with main customer location being in the Zurich area. Occasional international travel is a job requirement (training, internal meetings).
