Freelance Senior Sourcing Manager - North Germany - well-known medical device company - 12 months plus possible extensionRole Overview:
The Manager of Strategic Sourcing will be the lead for the plant focusing on executing best practices, sourcing processes and delivering results to meet & exceed the organizations' Strategic Sourcing Objectives. He/She will help develop and execute base and category business strategies and provide overall coordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice and that will leverage across MD&D. He/She will be a leader in their strategic sourcing initiatives and will be expected to provide a practical and intellectual understanding of the global MD&D industry as well as hands-on leadership in all aspects of Sourcing operations, having overall responsibility for cost / quality / service / SEI (Supplier Enable Innovation) / and continuity of supply for the sourcing group for the Norderstedt plant.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide focused leadership, strategic direction and expertise in Sourcing Management in assigned projects and categories with concentration in seondary packaging (IFU's, cartons, labels,folders, etc), metals, plastics, and primary packaging (foil, film, etc). Lead integrated teams including worldwide extended team members responsible for commercial and quality functions. Implement supplier programs achieving benchmark levels in quality, cost, delivery and service. Execute Make versus Buy decisions and strategies for manufacturing plants. Ensure goal/project alignment with all customers. Implement cost analysis and modeling for purchases. Delivers quality, innovation, and continuity of supply to the business.
Additional responsibilities will include:
1.* Strategically manage all areas of responsibility by franchise, supplier, category, component / material, and facility to ensure the organizations objectives are met
2.* Explore all options of long term strategies (make vs buy, vertical integration, streamlining the supply chain, sole source, multi-source solutions, etc)
3.* Identify and qualify suppliers including diversity businesses for goods and services
4.* Partner with the Category & Advanced Sourcing and Innovation functions to ensure alignment to meet and exceed goals
5.* Develop and implement strong business systems to establish proactive issue resolution manage supplier partnerships & contribute positively to the efficiency of Production and Supply Chain
6.* Provide input to the strategic sourcing direction and ensure alignment and adherence
7.* Partner with Supplier quality to ensure alignment on supplier management processes
8.* Prepare annual business plans budget and deliver YOY productivity savings and any other reporting requirements for the groups
9.* Support and assist in the management of a technically based, competent sourcing organization
10.* Upgrade supplier skills (ship-to-stock, emerging technologies, VMI (Vendor Management Inventory), etc.)
11.* Manage supplier capabilities including but not limited to capacity planning, tooling and resource investments including inventory management
12.* Conduct industry research and market surveys in order to stay current with best in class strategic sourcing practices and customer demands

Critical Success Factors or Scope or Responsibilities:
14.* PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Project management leadership for medical device for design control, change control project management and interacting with global manufacturing sites. Demonstrate leadership skills that can manage multiple projects of varied difficulty. Must be confident in communication and interaction with all levels of authority. Will need to interact with multi-national cross functional teams across different internal departments and manufacturing plants. Must have the ability to prioritize key activities, and revise as required. Must be able to influence key internal stakeholders, team members and escalate through authority channels as required and have a strong desire to drive for success. Must be decisive and able to quickly assess needs of the project to develop a plan of action to expedite solutions.
15.* BCP - Create sourcing strategies for materials, suppliers and manufacturing facilities to maintain supply continuity, highest quality and most competitive costs
16.* CIP - Champion annual productivity improvements by leading internal & joint supplier / teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.).
17.* SRM - Track and manage performance of suppliers and ensure that performance issues are quickly addressed.
18.* NEGOTIATE - Demonstrate superior negotiation skills both for cost reduction, enhanced deliverables, service and quality.
Experience and Key Competencies:
1.* Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in a Strategic Sourcing/supply chain role within a highly regulated Medical Device or Pharma industry for high volume manufacturing utilizing Primary, Secondary packaging components, plastics or metals for finshed goods
2.* Proven ability to influence/collaborate required
3.* Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills required
4.* Expertise in Operations, Logistics, Planning, and Forecasting required
5.* Financial management & budget development and control
6.* Analytical-absorb information & solve complex problems quickly
