SAP Technology Lead, German Speaking
Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a SAP Technology Lead, German Speaking to based in Hannover, Germany.
This position is directly responsible for the delivery and the day-to-day management of the SAP build (both configuration and development).
Responsibilities:
* Providing subject matter expertise input into the project's overall estimates of scope, effort and scheduling.
* Defining and maintaining build inventories/plans for the tracking of progress, management of build through test and resolution of issues affecting other areas of the project.
* Mobilising and managing the build resources on-shore and in near and off-shore locations. Resources include permanent employees, contractors and 3rd party suppliers.
* Providing subject matter expertise to validate and sign-off the functional designs. Coordinating interactions between the functional and the development teams, to ensure quality transition of functional designs into technical designs.
* Providing quality assurance of technical designs and development.
* Enforcing control and versioning for configuration items.
* Ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.
* Establishing best practices and standards within the build teams, by reviewing, improving or creating:
o The processes to be used.
o Re-usable templates for project deliverables.
o Standards documentation.
o Quality assurance approach.
* Managing the release of transports.
* Working with the Infrastructure team to plan the schedule of the upgrades/support packs.
* Managing vendors
Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
* Ability to provide accurate and timely project management information, by producing the relevant project deliverables eg build plan.
* Delivery, systems development and build process knowledge.
* Ability to review existing processes, strategies, approaches and documentation and provide pragmatic and simple input/improvements.
* SAP functional knowledge and SAP configuration skills in any SAP module.
* SAP design and development skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, Matrix team environment. Collaborative style, customer-focused.
* Knowledge of the SAP landscapes, transport and release processes.
* Knowledge of SAP upgrades and support packs.
* Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills for working with other managers/leads, stakeholders, functional teams, development specialists and support teams. Must have solid written skills to support program documentation.
* Ability to produce high quality deliverables and work in an environment with competing priorities. Can multi-task effectively. Demonstrates results-orientation/initiative and strong work ethic; ability to master tactical details.
* Bring a creative approach to task fulfilment; acquire industry specific knowledge in employer's business.
* Ability to manage geographically dispersed teams, sourced from different suppliers - permanent employees, contractors and 3rd party suppliers.
Experience
* Minimum 10 years SAP experience - ranging from hands-on development and configuration, through design to management. At least 3 full implementation life-cycles.
* Project Management and delivery experience - at least 5 years experience.
* Knowledge in Service Management based on ITIL - ideally, at least one delivery role held.
* Vendor management experience.
Working Relationships
* Reports to SAP Project Manager or equivalent.
* Direct supervisory responsibilities for project team members.
